Long Island Iced Tea

  • Parent: Sidecar
  • Recipe Source: Original

The premise of a long island iced tea is equal parts hard liquor, cola, sweetener, and acid to cut. I’m sure this started with a recipe somewhere, but it rapidly evolved into our family favorite that fits perfectly in our glass pitcher. We typically make this to share with a group, though I’ve certainly been known to make myself a single when it’s calling.

Ingredients

Single Serving

  • ½ oz each of:
    • vodka
    • gin
    • rum
    • tequila
    • triple sec
    • lemon
    • lime juice
    • simple syrup
  • 4 oz cola

Batch Sized

  • 60 ml / 2 oz each of:
    • vodka
    • gin
    • rum
    • tequila
    • triple sec
    • lemon juice
    • lime juice
  • 50 ml / 1¾ oz simple syrup
  • 500 ml / 17 oz cola

Instructions

  1. Fill your glass or pitcher halfway with ice.
  2. Pour all liquors, juices, and simple syrup over the ice
  3. Stir.
  4. Add the cola.

Variations

  • Long Beach Iced Tea: substitute the cola for cranberry juice.
  • Tokyo Iced Tea: substitute the cola for Midori, a green melon liqueur.
